Travis Kruse, Trackithub

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Kruse.

Travis, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
TrackitHub specializes in the management and organization of pickleball leagues and clubs around the world. Our innovative program provides administrators with the necessary tools to run competitive leagues, facilitate club play, schedule events, and communicate with their players. TrackitHub also provides a social platform for members to post pictures of pickleball related events and socialize with players from around the world.

Ten years ago, my father and I learned how to play the game of pickleball the same day and were immediately hooked. Being the coordinator my father is, he decided to develop a spreadsheet to track weekly ladder-league scores for his active pickleball club in Indio, CA. The spreadsheet minimized the manual hassle of calculating scores and converting the points scored into averages. The spreadsheet reduced the workload by four hours each week, however, the process was still laborious.

It was evident early on that the sport of pickleball would continue to grow in popularity. The club’s membership was growing by 50% each season. After much deliberation, we both agreed there was a need for a platform that provided recreational players and clubs tools for communication, registration, and tracking scores. In June 2014, we founded TrackitHub.

In December 2014, the beta version of TrackitHub was launched. We did not have any intention of developing a complete club management program until individuals began approaching us with considerable interest. The demand was astounding.

From January 2016 to January 2017, we experienced a substantial increase in our user base, expanding from 2,000 users to 19,000 users. TrackitHub now has over 40,000 users and has been adopted by pickleball clubs in all 50 states, seven Canadian provinces, and five countries.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Every startup has its path and I don’t believe any of them are smooth. The average age of a pickleball player is 60-70. Going from paper and pencil to a software program to manage their organizational tasks is a substantial change and can be intimidating for a lot of clubs.

Please tell us about your organization.

With one full-time employee and two part-time employees, we are very proud of how far we have come in such a short amount of time. Growing our database to over 40,000 users in five different companies was unimaginable five years ago. TrackitHub’s excellent customer service and innovative tools set us apart from younger startups in the industry.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
It is fairly straight forward for us. We measure our success every month by analyzing the number of new users and the amount of traffic on our site via Google Analytics. I also define success based on how satisfied our current users are with customer support. It is imperative to me that our users have a good experience using the site and that their emails, phone calls, and support tickets are answered within 24-48 hours.
