Happy Thanksgiving from TrackitHub! We hope you spend your holiday with friends and family, great food, and most importantly –– pickleball. We have a lot to be thankful for this year, especially surrounding the sport we love most.
We’re a little over a week out from the premiere of Pickled, the long-awaited, two-hour-long celebrity pickleball tournament hosted by Stephen Colbert. The special was announced in early 2022, and we can expect to see celebrities from all fields––including actress Emma Watson and Will Ferrell––put their best dinks forward in these fun and competitive matches.
Pickleball is a great low-impact way for snowbirds to stay active and social as they travel. Especially considering the pandemic, pickleball provides a socially-distant social outlet with limited risk for older individuals. Also, because of pickleball’s consistent popularity among older generations for years, many already know how to play, and look forward to playing in the winter months.
LeBron James is making headlines –– this time in the world of dinks instead of dunks. On September 28, Major League Pickleball announced that the 37-year-old basketball titan has invested in pickleball with his purchase of a Major League Pickleball team. The new MLP ownership group consists of LRMR Ventures (James’ office with longtime business partner Maverick Carter), NBA players Draymond Green and Kevin Love, SC Holdings, The SpringHill Company CMO Paul Rivera, and Relevent Sports Group CEO Daniel Sillman.
We’re just over a month out from the start of the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships, one of the largest and most highly anticipated pickleball tournaments of the year. The tournament is one of USA Pickleball’s 11 regional pickleball events where thousands of competitors come together for intense competition.
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the US and has been for the last few years. That’s because pickleball is easy to learn, great for all ages, and has customizable intensity so you can engage in casual or competitive play.
